I liked this sweet book about lost chances and the Japanese internment camps during World War II. We were on a trip and I started reading a small piece of this aloud to my children, since we didn't have another book handy. Then my 12 year old daughter picked it up and read the rest of it from there. It was fine for her and she wants to read other books about the internment.
