You have to wonder if Masha Gessen is risking her life after reading the first three chapters about the brutality of the KGB and Putin's youthful reputation for violence. Being interested in all things Russian, I am especially enjoying the inside information on immediate post-war St Petersburg.

Jennifer Ciotta Hugh, I wonder about Gessen's safety too. She is very brave and her view is so important, but it is only one view. If you're interested in all things Russia and if you'd like a completely unique and unprecedented view of Putin, may I suggest my novel "I, Putin"? You may enjoy it! Best wishes, Jennifer Ciotta
