I enjoy Mrs Briggs' books usually. I like the world that she's created. But this one was.... I just don't know. It fulfilled the need to follow the characters through another adventure, yes. But at the end of the day her foreshadowing was more like a big blinking sign with flashing lights and all saying, "Hey! Here's a plot point, now I'm going to use it to save a main character at the end of the book. Oh, and incase you forget about it, I'm going to bring it up every chapter that this one character is in. The whole book." There is a complete lack of subtlety in the whole damn book. And it wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't so.... Often... throughout the prose. Sometimes her foreshadowing would happen within the same page of the event! Why bother!? It's supposed to be something that you read, re-read, go "no shit!" in a happy way, then page back a few chapters to see exactly how well the author led you there. Mrs Briggs pretty much hits you over the head with it in this book, as though it were her first time utilizing this technique.

That said. If you are a fan of this series or these characters, you won't be disappointed. It's another decent "popcorn" novel. Eat it fast, don't feel guilty, don't expect much more than the package says.
