I really didn't expect to like this one as much as I did. It takes place in Germany as the Nazis start to come to power, but with the troubles of WWI still a memory.

For the time Hannah was an unusual woman, she did what she wanted and ended up taking on some powerful men. I wasn't sure how she could stay ahead of them, but she did, sometimes just barely. The way that things were so intertwined I had a hard time trying to guess what was going to happen and who the bad guy was.

Anton managed to charm me from the start. He didn't live a good life until Hannah entered his, but he was so stoic. He was such a little adult that the times the kid burst out it had me laughing.

Hannah's choice at the end was a bold one. I worry for her as she will now have to run for a long time, yet I am happy with the choice she made, but sad with how she left behind.

I can't wait to read more in this series.
