This is the first book in the Riley Jensen series by author Keri Arther, and I must say, this book does not disappoint. I am not usually one to read the books more heavily into the romance and steamy sex scenes, but the author did them tastefully, and never spent too much time on them.
The author really created a new fantasy world in Melbourne, Australia, with the likes of Werewolves, Vampires, Shifters, and half breeds. This book even starts you on a journey about cloning to make the super “nonhuman” race, and in this fantasy world, almost all types of nonhuman’s have decided to surface into mainstream society. Imagine True Blood, but set in the future, with more than just the Vampires coming out of the closet.
I was turned onto this series by a friend, and couldn’t stop once I started. I think I devoured the whole series within 2 weeks. It has the perfect blend of action, back story, character development, and lore to keep most anyone interested. Again, this is classified as a Paranormal Romance, and it does get a little steamy at times, but the way the author has portrayed Ms. Jensen, having to go through the Moon Heat every week leading up to the full moon, and the fact that all werewolves must go through it, at least until they find their soul mate, really makes for a good page turner. I hope you take the time to read and enjoy this series as much as I have.
