Blanca I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it. I don't like the narrator's voice in the book. The most recent movie version, however, I thought was great. Jeremy Irons brought a sympathy to a difficult character to understand. In the movie, Jeremy Irons lends understanding and sympathy to Humphrey Humphrey. While he's not a hero, one understands that his unconsummated love of his youth haunts him and leads him to do what society sees as a monster, a pedophile, a corrupter.

I like other works by Nabokov, Lolita is just not on my list. I am looking forward to re-read this as a companion to Reading Lolita in Tehran and consider the parallels of what defines pedophilia in the context of religion and politics.
