In which Violet and Klaus rescue Sunny from Count Olaf and his minions atop Mount Fraught, are reunited with Quigley Quagmire but are separated again when he and they are washed down separate tributaries of the Slippery Slope when spring thaws the waterfall.

Also continues the teasing, postmodern clues as to how Lemony Snicket, along with his brothers Kit and Jacques, is involved in the search for the Baudelaire orphans, in their attempt, as apart of the organization known by the acronym, V.F.D., to keep the orphans safe and foil the plots of Olaf and company. We also meet two two, unnamed villains whom make even Olaf nervous.
