cross between a david lynchian soap opera (complete with teen pregnancy and a dramatically timed coma) with the feel of bret easton ellis (with bratty, entitled youths, drugs, biting dialogue with inventive expletives) plus werewolves and vampires. perhaps i'm too dim, or too slow (it didn't help that i kept picking this up and putting it down and it took me weeks to get through) but i'm not entirely sure i even understand what went on in this novel. plus, everyone in this cast was a little too unlikeable for me to care about. but ultimately, it's not fun reading a novel in which you always feel like you're missing something.
