Meet a group of desperados of the music industry. Follow them through the California punk era, the drug dazed 80's, the money grabbing 90's and the post 9/11 confusion.
Somehow, they manage to survive all the betrayals, great and small, all the neuroses and psychoses, drug-induced or not, all the crushed hopes, all the failures but also all the successes.
For those of us who remember the era of rock'n'roll theme albums, the book is definitely a tongue-in-cheek homage to the genre: the novel really is the sum total of all the short stories that unfold, one chapter at a time.
It is a very fun read: there is wit, pathos, lust, love and tragic flaws galore, so what is there not to like?
Actually, now that I am thinking about it, it seems fitting that some of the chapters/short stories come off less polished, less brilliant than the rest... it is just the way life goes, isn't it?
