This book has a very interesting premise: In the early 70's, a group of hippies establishes a utopian commune in an old mansion in upstate New York. The book follows the commune through its early development, heyday, decline, and final dissolution.

In theory, it's a great story. However, some of the author's techniques did not appeal to me personally. For example, the language was overly flowery, and there was an excessive amount of description. Too often I honestly couldn't figure out what the author was talking about. There wasn't enough action, and I was bored 80% of the time. I think there are definitely people who would like this book, but I wasn't one of them.
