it was amazing
bookshelves: the-all-time-favorites, psychological-thriller, mystery, japanese, murder-crime, foreign-translated, neighbors
Read in March, 2012

This book was amazing... What is it with the Japanese & arithmetic????... I suppose they're good at it... it was reminiscent of another favorite of mine, The Housekeeper & The professor, where arithmetic also played a role, practically as another character. The Housekeeper and the Professor

This was an extremely moving story... with wonderful plot maneuvers- like Agatha Christie, but, honestly, better, I believe... The other book that comes closest to this in recent publications in caliber that has the same elements of shock, mystery, & actually-stay-awake-all-night-even-though-I-have-work-early-in-the-morning is Rosamund Lupton's "Sister"...
Sister

Lastly, it reminds me of the book Primal Fear by William Diehl/film with Richard Gere... also due to the intense drama, but also the psychological aspect... Primal Fear

In conclusion, this is definitely a new favorite of mine- & I am a self-proclaimed difficult critic to impress- then again, I am partial to foreign literature as well as psychological intrigue...

The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa Sister by Rosamund Lupton Primal Fear by William Diehl
