meh. I guess I should have figured a whole cookbook devoted to zucchini would find some ways to shoehorn zucchini into everything, and not always in a good way. I find the title confusing too--I saw the "zucchini cookbook" part and grabbed it on my way out of the library. then read the subtitle later. all kinds of squash. huh. make up your mind. That's what I get for not reading it more carefully before taking it home. Don't get me wrong. There's some good recipes in here. The Zapple Pie/ Strudel/ Crumble recipes are interesting. But mostly other than that it's "here's a recipe. now add zucchini...or other kinds of squash." OK. I could figure that out on my own. zucchini with pasta? fine. zucchini on pizza? hmmm. zucchini bread? duh.
So I don't feel I learned anything useful or memorable from this cookbook, since I'm pretty sure the "zucchini as mock apple" was not a new idea prior to this cookbook. Yawn. at least I didn't buy it.

I hate it when the title is misleading. It really would have been nice to have some extra zucchini recipes right? I have a really good recipe with zucchini, tomatoes and parmesan cheese if you'd like to have it. Happy reading, Elise

thanks, Elise! I can't have cheese, though. :( so sad. I miss cheese so much! but it gives me migraines, which is a good reason to avoid it. So thanks, but unless the cheese is easy to leave out or replace, it probably won't work for me. :(And yes, I hate misleading titles! Yes, most of the recipes in here were for zucchini. But there were still a lot that weren't. If I had bought the book based on the title, I would have been very angry!
