Just After Sunset
by Stephen King
by Stephen King
I don't like short stories. Sometimes it takes me a while to become invested and a lot of times I just never get there with them. Also short stories feel like eating half a cookie.
Stephen King and I have a love/hate relationship. I think there's a misconception about his work by people who haven't read it that think it's drugstore tripe... and sometime, sadly, it is. But sometimes it's genius. I had this dream once that I actually got published and SK ripped my book apart and talked smack about me like he did Stephanie Meyers. In the dream I didn't get upset, my only response was, "Dude, you wrote Tommyknockers."
That said, most of the stories in this book were very good. A few were pretty standard fare, but a couple blew me away. N. is probably one of the best stories I've read in a long time. The Gingerbread Girl and Stationary Bike were pretty darn good too.
But A Tight Spot gave me nightmares.
There are a few things that I actually have an unreasonable fear of: heights, ocean waves, deep water with big animals in it, trash cans, and… port-o-potties.
OH MY GOD. How did he know?
