I have heard from teaching girlfriends in Title I schools in Beaverton that this is the best thing to hit literacy programs in a long time. I am determined to read it and be prepared for the fall!!
Update: I just finished reading this book and all I can say is that I LOVE IT! I totally coincide with the philosophy and really appreciate the step-by-step structural lessons and then day by day lay out of when to use which, in what order, with page numbers to be able to refer back to their dialogue and chart paper examples for each piece. Does an excellent job of explicitly teaching desired behaviors in a very hands-on way, and then building on previous knowledge as they go. Everyone who teaches reading needs to consider this as their basic framework.
