This is one of the best fictional books that I have read in a long time...a real long time. It seemed so unlikely that I would like this book. After all, how was I going to relate to the midlife crises of a middle-aged male polygamist in Utah in the 1970s? But this book isn't really about that. It's about family, love, and life in the American west. The writing is witty and descriptive and the whole books seems filled with a tragicomic sense of nostalgia and home. This book made me laugh, cry, and reconsider just how important family really is. That the author could make me relate to the protagonist, Golden Richards, truly shows his skill and his way of truly humanizing his characters. Fabulous! Recommended by my friend, Riley K.
