The Summer I Turned Pretty didn’t blow me away like I thought it would. Perhaps, I’m just expecting it to be more like Sarah Dessen’s or Jennifer Echols’. But hey, it’s a good light reading (when I say ‘light reading’ I really meant simple chick lit) for summer, like now.

The characters were all great; even they did annoy me at some part of the book. Like Belly hating that Conrad, Jeremiah and her brother, Steven, for treating her like a little kid which was at some point she was – being immature and insecure. Although, I liked how Belly recognized the flaws from other characters but still see the good in them. The portrayal of their mothers, Laurel and Susannah, were perfect. I guess that’s what readers loved this series.
Nevertheless, I did enjoyed reading TSITP and I might continue to its sequel, It’s Not Summer Without You.
