What do you do if the Amish lifestyle is absolutely NOT for you, but you believe the Amish faith is the ONLY way for you to get to heaven? If you're Ira Wagler, you leave the Amish for the outside world 5 times in 10 years, starting at age 17.

This book reads more of a crisis of faith than it does "growing up Amish"... The title is misleading. I wish it had more the fabric of the Amish life - all I really learned was that different areas of Amish have slightly different rules, and that despite his never ending affirmations that he is not bitter, he is clearly bitter and looks down on the Amish....
