This book does a wonderful job of portraying the complexities of polygamy and how it is received in Nigerian society. It depicts well the limited opportunities for many women, which make polygamy seem like a good option for the future. It also shows polygamy from one man's side - as barbaric as Baba Femi seems, in his mind he really thought he was doing right by these women, and some of them would have agreed. I found that this book really takes you into Nigerian society to show you the many shades of gray surrounding this complicated issue, without becoming preachy or maudlin - there is a lot to laugh at in this book!
