I loved the story of this one. It was so fascinating. I liked the setting and the characters and the plot and all the New Orleans flavor. The only thing that kept me from truly falling in love and making this one of my absolute favorites was that I didn't like the two main characters together. The main male lead is suck a d-bag. I don't mean like one of those "acting like a d-bag because he's trying to protect her" guys. I mean he is a legit d-bag. For real. It made him a fascinating character and I loved the two of them having to go through this together, but I just couldn't buy the love story part of it because hello, why would she ever fall for him? The guy is a douche. I kept waiting and wishing for a new boy to show up and sweep her off her feet. It didn't happen. SO, I loved this book but couldn't "fall in love" with it. Does that make sense? But I definitely recommend you read this one. It's brilliant and amazing, and who knows maybe you'll be more lenient on the guy.
