** spoiler alert ** Oh, I SO wanted to like this book. I love the premise. The results, not so much.

I realize that disbelief needs to be suspended when you're dealing with this kind of fiction, but I need something to suspend it from. If you're going to have access to live grenades and Claymore mines, you've at least got to give me a reasonable idea of where they came from. If you're going to have the avuncular doctor congratulating an 18 year old boy on his recent engagement to a German camp follower, shouldn't said doctor at least warn the young man that his blushing bride is nearly certain to give him syphilis? And so on....
