This book is about a girl names Lina who is from Lithuania. This book is set during World War II. Because Lina's father is a professor Lina and her family is sent to Siberia so they don't threaten the reign or power that the Soviets are beginning to enforce. Once she reaches the work camp in Siberia she begins to document what is going on there through her art. She risks her life, but she needs to find solace some way so she can survive and help the other prisoners.
This book was great! I've never really read a story like this and I felt like it captured what happened amazingly, and I was immediately pulled in. I liked how everyone came together because falling apart wasn't an option. It amazes me how humans will ban together in the worst of times.
