I wasn't sure of this book to begin with. My first impression was that the author, Jane Austen, had simply created a very long gossip session among wealthy snobs with nothing better to do than attempt to outshow one another. But seeing how the population raved this famous love story, I continued to push forward, hopeful. I will admit it was worth my perserverance. Once the stage was finally set (comprising basically the first half of the book) then events suddenly compelled me to read for the sheer desire of seeing what would become of three potential relationships. I greatly appreciated, as well as respected, the main characters, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, and how both chose to learn from the criticism handed them while at the same time remaining the confident and independant people they were at heart. The story proved delighful, and I'm glad I invested the time to finally read it.
