Sergeant Gunnhildur Gisladottir, head of the Hvalvik police force, generally deals with speeding drivers and disorderly drunks. Although murder is rare in Iceland, when a body is found in the harbor, she suspects that it is not an accident. A very 21st century story with Iceland’s economy about to implode, corrupt officals hand-in-glove with environmental polluters and the mysterious “Skandalblogger” revealing all and then some. Gunna is smart, savvy, and sensible; a very engaging character.
