The third volume of Locke and Key is, if anything, better than the previous two. The focus here is on Kinsey, who is recovering, and on her mother, Nina, who is not. There's far less of Dodge, of anything supernatural, and that's fine. Hill's strenght in Locke and Key is really the family itself, how they interact and react to what is happening to and around them. I've grown to really like Kinsey, and I feel for Nina even as I see her further damaging her already broken family. Yes, it still advances the supernatural plot, but I liked that it was much more about the family.
