Communism gone wild! In this dystopian novel, Karl Marx is worshiped as Christ's equal, people are medicated to keep them in line with "Family" values, and sex is limited to ten minutes every Saturday night. The social commentary was sometimes spot-on, but sometimes missed the mark, as when the rebels complained that they didn't believe people circumcised babies in the "pre-U" era - it's not barbaric, it helps to prevent AIDS! The plot was good, if a bit overdone. The only thing I *really* didn't like was how a woman who gets raped by the main character has forgiven him within 2 pages and later goes on to marry him. All in all, Levin is no Orwell, but the book is a decent read.
