I have a love/hate relationship with Bill Bryson's writing.  I loved reading A Walk in the Woods, about his adventures walking the Appalachian Trail.  I usually love travel writing, but I'm learning that I love the people who write about people and experiences more than the people who write about what they see.  In this book about Australia, Bill spends too much time talking about facts.  I can read the encyclopedia myself, thanks Bill, and I've been there.  I want stories that make me sentimental or put the travel fever in my blood.  This just didn't do it.
