I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I didn't think I'd like it very much, and that it would be ...well, crap. But it wasn't.

I didn't get that the main character was a boy until page 25. I don't know if it was just unclear or if I read too fast or am too unobservant, but I didn't feel like that was overly clear. It gets VERY CLEAR later on in the book, and I think there was too much graphic-ness for a YA book, but at least it was a short scene.

I thought the concept of the novel was great. Execution, pacing, characters, all very well done. The ending was killer. Reminded me of Life As We Knew It by Susan Pfeffer. I will definitely be seeking out the next book in the series.
