I enjoyed this book and I did like how it was sort of divided into two stories that meshed together. I love reading details about Chicago in the late nineteenth century, and I found that the details of the murders were fascinating. But the pace was SO SLOW. Sometimes it felt like I had stumbled into someone's research project for a college paper.
