Though this is a well-written and occasionally humorous story, it is extremely slow-paced and at times reads like a parody of ponderous English literature about upper-class British boys and their school exploits. The first in a 12-volume (!) novel series, I cannot say I was inspired to pick up the following volumes, though most of this first part includes a great deal of foreshadowing and is clearly designed to introduce you to the cast of characters. I would say if you are curious about this work at all, you should prepare yourself for a major time investment for the set-ups in this volume to pay off.
