Read in August, 2008

Reminiscent of a POW's memoirs, Murat Kurnaz outlines his journey through the horror that is Guantanamo Bay, a U.S. detention facility in Cuba. The bold and striking book makes many allegations of abuse, that if true (I can only assume they must be, as numerous articles and testimony suggests) should put to shame the Bush Administration for their continuing human rights violations. This book will no doubt incite strong feelings from American readers and will act as a lasting historical document for years to come.
