A powerful story about the effects of war on a family. This book brings light to a character's courage to find a way to help her family survive in the face of oppression. Class discussions could include text to self connections, and ideas about what would you do to help your family survive in sucu circumstances?

Jacqui I think realistic fiction is always a great way to help the older students think about what is currently occurring in the world and reflect upon their own lives and the manner in which they can extend a helping hand. I found the book to be extremely well written and thought provoking. The discussions possibilities are endless ...
