it was amazing

Not so much a story of the ka-tet as it is a story (or a pair of stories nested within one another with Roland and crew as the wrapper) about the power of stories and those who tell them. The story that gives the book its name is possibly some of the finest writing King has ever delivered. Tim's adventure moved me to tears. The earlier adventure of Roland is interesting and adds a certain humanity to the character, but didn't hold my attention quite as strongly.

Pretty much a must read for a DT fan. You could read it without knowledge of the rest of the series, but there would be some confusing references to characters and situations that you're assumed to be familiar with.
