This book was not, unfortunately, anywhere close to as enjoyable a read as his The Devil in the White City. Unfortunately, though, the story itself did not build to as satisfying a climax as I would have liked. But still, it provided an interesting insight into what life was like in Berlin during the 1930s while watching Hitler ascend to power. As ever, Larson researched his subject thoroughly, and wrote about it with such skill that never failed to maintain interest.
