I can't believe I just got around to reading this-- was a HUGE science fiction fan in the 70s and 80s, and an Orson Scott Card fan from the Alvin Maker series. Anyway, I loved it and it will stay with me for a long time. This book presents (to me) a compelling argument explaining one of the central paradoxes of Christianity (how could a loving God allow that to happen to his son)?

C.M. Allen I agree. It is my favorite Card book, although i love the Alvin Maker series. Did he ever finish that? I heard they are making Ender's Game into a movie after all these years.

Nancy Good question...if he did, I didn't make it to the end ("outgrew" it, now I want to reread them again). A cursory look at Amazon says there are 6 books, the latest published in 2003, but doesn't indicate if it "ended" or not. There are a couple of other entries indicating there was a 7th book but it might be a comic book version of the 2nd book.
