Read from April 28 to May 01, 2013

Aravind Adiga divides India into two : the India of darkness and the India of the light. The White Tiger describes the moral sacrifices the Indian society forces out of a man trying to transcend from 'darkness' to 'light'. He highlights the servitude of one class and the hypocrisy of the other with biting sarcasm. The book is a great read, but has some inconsistencies in the tone of the narrator. Also since what is going to happen is let out far earlier, too much expectation is placed on the description of the moment itself, and in my opinion, Adiga fails to match the expectation. As it often happens with authors who have written a very famous book, I liked Adiga's The Last Man on Tower more than this one. Nevertheless, The White Tiger is a must read.
