Baking Cakes in Kigali is one of those books that you want to go on forever - I loved every single paragraph. Gaile Parkin has created such an amazing cast of characters, and Angel is the most loveable of them all. Too humble to realize how wonderful she is, Angel is like a big mama spider, connecting all of the people in her neighborhood with invisible threads. Her kindness, good sense, and beautiful cakes bind a diverse and sometimes troubled neighborhood together.

Many of the true stories that inspired this book are sad, but Baking Cakes in Kigali is filled with a message of hope and unity, and iced with warmth and laughter.
