This was a very entertaining read, if rather melodramatic and not particularly deep. The story is based on a real book, the Sarajevo Haggadah. The novel is partly the story of the Australian conservator sent to examine the haggadah, and the story of the Haggadah at various points in its history, which is by connection the history of Europe's Jews.
