This book picks up directly after book 8, as Halt & Co. continue tracking the Outsiders. After the initial bit, I felt it dragged a little as it was mostly tracking and following.

But once the peril part of the title kicked in I was on tenterhooks. I can't say too much without going in spoiler territory, but I will say that I was on the edge and in emotional turmoil - going from hope to grief to anxiousness and back. And even though in the back of your mind you sort of 'know' it's going to come out ok, 'cause these things always do, you're not really 100% and you just have to see how things turn out. If they turn out. The tension was killing me...

But then it gets resolved, one way or the other - I'm not telling - and the story continues back into finding the Outsiders - and the ending of that story-line was pretty cool, but a little anti-climactic since the focus got shifted.

Overall I was satisfied with the story, and, once again, wore a satisfied grin on my face as the book came to its conclusion.

I will miss this series when it's over. It doesn't quite compare to HP level depression, but it'll be close...
