I can see in some ways why people would enjoy the book.

Olive Kitteridge is a book, or rather, a collection of stories that have Olive as some kind of character in the stories. Typically I don't like this kind of book, however, it had come recommended by others. I enjoy reading stories, and I enjoy reading novels, but I didn't think this really meshed well with the cross over type thing. I think this approach would have been effective on other books I have read recently, like The Vigrants, by Yiyuan Li. I read three of the chapter/stories, I had difficulty maintaining an interest in the story and development of Olive more than where it was set in Maine.
