Wow. What great story.

I have never hidden the fact that as a Dean Koontz fan I have always preferred his darker writing. His Golden stories are good as well, but it's the darkness that pulls me in to stay.

Amazingly enough, this book actually contains both. It is no spoiler to say that the book contains a Golden, since he is introduced right in the very beginning, but it is also quite dark.

This novella is a sort of prequel, or an introduction to the world of Shadow Street, and it pulls you in right from the beginning. I was even forced to start 77 Shadow Street right after finishing this one, and had to force myself to stop reading so I might get some sleep.
That's why I would definitely recommend you buy both at the same time, and start with this one.
