Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession

Wow!!! I really didn't know what to expect in reading this book. I was very curious as to what her story may be given that she was a successful writer of "vampire fiction." I only recently learned of Anne Rice's faith through the YouTube segments 'I Am Second' and stumbled across this book when looking her up at my library. I kept an open mind and was rewarded. The way she describes all the imagery of her past surroundings and experiences places this book apart from others that may be a bit drier. I felt like I was walking along the streets with her and seeing what she did. It may seem like a lot at first, but it really enriches her story. I was fascinated to learn more about her life, her background, and some of her struggles. I never would have guessed what her real name is! I loved how she shared some of the inspiration for her novels as I am a budding writer. What was a bit difficult was the time-frame. She cut back and forth often so it was at times difficult to keep up, but altogether it worked very well and did have a purpose. The last portion that shared her transformation and love for Christ was what moved me the most and reiterated my own love for Him. I am so glad I gave this book a chance. I will definitely be purchasing this to add to my physical bookshelf as soon as possible.
