I can't fathom the sheer number of subjects Stephenson gives his full attention. Unlike many other bestselling authors, he never repeats himself and I am grateful! My only teeny, tiny beef is that the book felt too long - but that is a matter of taste.

There is much to absorb here, so if you feel lost in the beginning, as I did, you will take comfort in knowing that the story crystallizes itself eventually. I usually hate it when an author creates an alternate universe similar to our own and then goes around giving everything a silly name - I find it distracting enough to have quit many books in sheer disgust. Stephenson has handled the idea with enough care to keep the reader immersed. If you are interested in cosmology or physics you will enjoy this book.
