Oh how I wanted to love this book. I love fairy tales that are rewritten with a twist, ever since playing Rapunzel in the 6th grade production that my group wrote where there was a wicked butler. The musical is amazing. The writing in the book is too terrible for words.

Julie Davis Again, same as me.

barefoot.julie I abandoned this book so many times before I forced myself to finish it. I wanted to read it before seeing Wicked the musical. Trust me. The musical is SO worth it. Don't regret abandoning the book.

Jayme I never finished the book either, but I did enjoy the musical.

Nicole I read this (and hated it) before the musical came out and sadly I have shunned the musical as a result. I tried to read one of his other books and hated that one too. So no more Gregory Maguire for me!

Oh don't punish the musical; it really is great... :)

Bill H This is so bizarre... I thought I was alone in this world, after secretly abandoning this book solely because the writing was so painfully plonking.
