Hello Kitty Must Die
by Angela S. Choi
i saw this book on the library shelf and HAD to check it out. (though it did feel a little wrong. heehee).
this is not "my" typical type of book but i liked it -- which means if it is "your" type of book you will really like it. i don't tend to want to read anything involving murder or suspense...etc. but this turned out to be more comic than anything else. the cover says it best "darkly comic, boldly satiric and audacious."
yes, there was death but nothing too ugly or gritty. most of it happened behind the scenes. Fiona is a young American-born Asian woman fighting the stereotype of the "acceptable" Asian woman (or Hello Kitty).
it is extremely witty and weird and entertaining and Fiona is so sarcastic and scathing you just want to hang out with her. oh, and no Kittys were harmed during the writing of this book.
also? no hymens were injured during the writing of this book. <--- have i piqued your interest?
