did not like it

I knew going into this it wasn't going to be a very good book, but wow. I picked up the audio book at the library to listen to in the car, and the narrator Melissa Leo does what she can with the text. I could only listen to a chapter or two at a time before turning it off. I renewed it two times before I had to take it back, so I didn't finish the last couple chapters, but I figure I didn't miss out on much. My main issue is that, for whatever reason, the author has the characters say each other's name in dialogue, again and again and again. Be prepared to hear a lot of "Damn you, Charlie" and "What does this mean, Ty?" over and over. Plus, it even happens during an email exchange, back and forth, the two characters writing out each other's names. Are you kidding me? Seriously, it's like they needed to pad the book with an extra 10,000 words and decided to just throw in the extra names. It's worse than a daytime soap opera. And here's the thing -- this is published by HarperCollins, a major publisher. This book (supposedly) had an editor. You'd think sloppy writing like this would get caught before the book went to print. But, I guess, that's the value of the almighty "gatekeepers" ...
