Sharon Haha, I remember reading this in college my junior year shortly after I saw About A Boy, the film (and liked it). I thought the exact same thing. I couldn't believe it was the same author that wrote the book that was the basis for About A Boy.

Peggy Y'know, I read High Fidelity and thought it was just okay. The movie was better because Jack Black was in it, but otherwise it's very male and not in a particularly interesting way. I'm glad you feel the same way I do about this book. I think I might be done w/Nick Hornby.
