Nowadays, one seldom sees any book that takes an objective approach towards Pakistan. This is one of the few that looks at Pakistan in a neutral manner and points out the many great things and also shortcomings of this country. Being an urban Pakistani, it helped me understand the dynamics of this diverse society and the multiculturalism of every province and region of Pakistan.
Indeed, Pakistan cannot and should not be judged under the western understanding of democracy nor should it be forcefully implemented. Pakistan is working in whatever flawed way but it is still a far cry from a failed state that many western commentators love to throw around in abandon.
