This book is sort of hard to review. It's pretty much exactly the same as the six other Belgariad and Mallorean books before it. There's a perilous quest, Garion takes a bunch of his friends with him, they spend five books trying to save the world (or, in this case, the king's son) and then there's a happy ending and everyone gets married.
This review is coming off as sort of negative, but I did enjoy this book, mainly because the characters have developed a great deal since the first Belgariad book, and I like a good character arc. There are a few exceptions to this, however--Ce'Nedra has become markedly less interesting since (view spoiler)
The Mallorean is a great series and I would recommend it to anyone. But maybe it was a bad idea to read all ten Belgariad and Mallorean books back-to-back, because I'm almost getting tired of it. Almost.
