This series by Deborah Crombie is another recommendation I had from Goodreads and yet again, I am delighted with this one. Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James are investigating the death of Duncans neighbour, Jasamine Dent, a lady who is terminally ill and dies suddenly in her sleep. Duncan finds out from Jasamines friend, Meg, that Jasamine had asked her to assist her in taking an overdose of Morphine, but changed her find about going through with it. Duncan orders a postmortem and finds a lethal dose of Morphine in her system, but he is suspicious about the circumstances surrounding her death and unofficially investigates with Gemma help, until he finds some grounds to make the investigation official. Gemma is having some personal difficulties in the form of her ex-husband who has not paid her maintenance for 3 months and has now made himself disappear. She is struggling financially between the mortgage payments and her son Toby's childcare costs and is under pressure. There is definitely a spark between her and Duncan, although neither one of them are fully aware of it and so time will tell, whether there will be a romance between them. Great series, I am ready for book 3. and cannot wait to get reading. A good realistic plot and good solid police legwork and investigation to bring it to a conclusion.
