bookshelves: acceptance, emotions, expression, family, great-readaloud, feel-good, teasing, math, measurement, letters

Chrysanthemum loves her name but when others tease her for having a long name, her thoughts change.

This book is good to use when you want to talk about acceptance and having love for yourself. You can even incorporate math in this by counting the names of everyone in the classroom. A fun activity that you could do is to have the kids write their names really big on butcher paper. Then you can incorporate measurement and measure how long the children's names are.
